Stephan advises clients navigating the intersection of Czech, German, and European Union law. His practice centers on applying EU legal frameworks within the Czech Republic and other member states. He handles matters involving European Certificates of Succession, the Alien Residence Act, and cross-border enforcement proceedings. Fluency in German, Czech, English, Polish, and Russian enables direct communication with clients and counterparties across Central and Eastern Europe without translation barriers.
A career spanning two decades has built deep institutional knowledge of the region’s legal landscape. Stephan joined Lynx’s Prague office in 2004 after serving as a legal advisor for the OSCE in Estonia and Poland. His doctoral research at Europa-Universität Viadrina focused on Polish and European consumer law, resulting in a published dissertation and numerous articles on Czech labour law, insolvency, energy law, minority protection, and election law. He has been registered with the Czech Bar Association as a European lawyer since 2006 and as a fully Czech-qualified lawyer since 2010. Clients benefit from an advisor who combines scholarly depth with practical cross-border experience.
